Jim  Higgins    Head Coach

Brad  Laxton    Asst. Coach
Brad Laxton grew up in Tuscumbia Alabama and wrestled 4 years at Deshler High school. He was coached by his father who taught him that hard work solves all problems. Coach Laxton placed 3rd in the state as a freshman and went on to win 3 consecutive state titles. He continued his wrestling career at the United States Air Force Academy for one year. He then began his coaching career at Huntsville High School in Alabama as an assistant for 4 years. After taking an extended break from coaching, Brad came back to the sport with an opportunity to join his uncle and the coaching staff at Suwannee High School in Florida. While at Suwannee, he had the honor of coaching both of his cousins there to state place winners. Upon moving back to Chattanooga, Brad Laxton joined East Hamilton wrestling staff as an assistant. The next year Coach Laxton took over as Head Coach of East Ridge High School. Brad Laxton is husband to Brook and father of three - Pete, Jake & Sam.

Coach Laxton - I can say I have found a home at Soddy Daisy and consider myself extremely lucky to be involved with this program. My philosophy is simple: “Work as hard as you can for as long as you can and good things will happen. Don’t worry about winning and losing. Results will take care of them self. “

Ashley  Brooks    Asst. Coach
Ashley Brooks has been part of Chattanooga area high school wrestling for over 30 years. He began his career at Chattanooga City High School in 1982. His tenure also included successful years at Lookout Valley High School where his teams won district dual team championships three times & an additional three region dual runner-ups. During that time, Ashley Brooks was awarded Coach of the Year 5 times. Coach Brooks joined the Soddy Daisy wrestling family in 1999, as an assistant to Coach Emeritus Steve Henry. As an integral part of the coaching staff, Ashley helped to lead Soddy Daisy High School in their quest to become one of the elite wrestling programs in Tennessee. He has been part of the coaching staff to earn 3 (large school) dual state championship teams, three (large school) traditional championships and eight time runner-up titles. Coach Brooks has been head coach or assistant coach for 25 state champions and 46 state place winners including Tennessee’s first five-time State Qualifier. In 2012, he was inducted into the Tennessee Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
